Transcend
While regular practice of meditation is associated with many health benefits, there are those who find it difficult to establish a regular practice due to the abstract nature of meditation.
Transcend is a meditation assistance tool that will provide users with a concrete way to monitor their meditation practice. Transcend reports to the user their level of meditation, duration of their meditative state, and other metrics. Using these metrics Transcend can tell when a user may benefit from trying a different style of meditation and also when a user is successfully achieving meditative states regularly. By measuring and recording meditative states, a user can track their progress and receive confirmation that their practice is effective.
Unlike other meditation apps available today, Transcend measure neural activity and takes into account the different ways people meditate. There are meditation guides for users new to the practice or users looking to try a different style, as well as options to have background music or other sounds. If a user is looking for more ways to expand their meditation an in-app purchase system allows them to expand their library of guided tracks and background music or sounds. There are also different visuals that the user can meditate on, some static and some dynamic. As with the audio options, additional visual options are available for in-app purchase.
Understanding that some users may benefit more from abstract representation than graphs, Transcend uses information from sessions to present progress in a more visually appealing manner. Tracking meditation using Transcend lets a user grow a meditation garden that reflects their practice. This garden is part of the companion Facebook app through which users can post their progress and see how friends are progressing as well. The garden element as well as some provided metrics integrate into a badge system that marks milestones in meditation practice.
